We as homo sapiens evolved when we discovered Imagination. We have created a world full of our imaginations and our future is always evolving as we surge forward everyday with our resilience to imagine a better life for ourselves.
We have advanced beyond our imagination in last two decades. Technology changed our perception to look at life and our future.We made discoveries which were only in minds of script writers and books as a future faraway. Yes we Homo Sapiens have technologically advanced and are forging a new future for ourselves.
Our new idea of Artificial Intelligence is creating a new future for all of us. Our next level of evolution is here. Soon we will be re booting ourselves to upload our new version. This is what we imagine or someone has imagined our future.
Things were going great for us. We are the biggest consumers of anything and everything that is made for us on this planet. We did not bother to stop ourselves when scientist kept shouting global warming, oil prices kept surging up, pollution at its peak everywhere, water scarcity creeping in but our insatiable desires kept asking for more. Every one was moving forward to make a better future.
Then came one microbe, no one knows where its origin is from. Some say it comes from bat and on consumption of the bat jumped into us. While some have a theory it's made in a lab. Frankly with all our technology we are struggling to understand this one small little virus. Maybe the one's who created it know more but are not sharing the information or maybe it's meant to do what it's doing as wrath of nature.
No one knows but yes this has definitely brought us humans to a halt. This is strange in 2019, the Amazon burnt, we felt bad as we call the amazon forests lungs of earth but never stopped. Same year bush fire in Australia, one billion animals dead, again we felt bad but never stopped and finally one little virus which can actually harm us and we stop everything to sit in our cages called home to save our ever precious life.
One small microbe which we call Covid19 has stopped the world.
So our imagination which started from caves has brought us back to cag(v)e's.
Now we have apps to track our movement voluntary agreed by us to check our body stats in case we come in contact with some one with covid19. Companies are already tracking whether we are sleeping better than before, how is our heart rate etc ... our fitness gadgets which we so proudly have displayed in past is tracking how our reactions are to this worldwide lockdown. Mattresses which have sensors as we love technology is sending back data of how much sleep an individual is getting.
What otherwise would have taken companies couple of years or even a decade to understand human nature is now available due to our fear of contracting this virus and fear of losing our life.
We are already going away from our norms being a social animal to social distancing. As said, being in a community or socially active increases our happiness quotient, so with this change, how are we going to behave ? We are already working from home, the fine line which we had between personal and professional life has merged, many people who worked as daily wages are jobless and this is increasing globally to create a new class of jobless people. It's like a acceleration of events which were predicted by 2030 of millions of people being jobless with advent of technology.
Maybe now is the time to learn new skills and re-boot our thinking and perspective to where and what we want to be next. Maybe now is the time for companies to rethink their strategy to survive.
Fear the most powerful emotion can move mountains and here we are driven with fear and being the lab rats finally which these companies wanted but due to our human rights could not openly do their experiments. Now we have given our rights up to be lab rats and we are all ok.
So future is here already, what next? is this our new normal? Living scared, waiting for a vaccine which will be forced on us after creating so much chaos. We will never even know whether that vaccine will be again another experiment? We have opened the Pandora's box and given our future away to politicians and bio tech companies now. We have now eventually given up our privacy and rights ; to stay alive. What a price to pay to be kept alive and for how long?
Our imagination as i said can take us anywhere! Power and imagination is the most dangerous tool and if you add chaos and fear to this equation... well we are seeing this in real time today.
As rightly said by William Irvin Thompson " For the first time in human evolution, the individual life is long enough, and the cultural transformation swift enough, that the individual mind is now a constituent player in the global transformation of human culture".
