Motivate Me !

I Can. I will. End of Story.

Sounds easy, but for many, its difficult to self motivate. The reason's are many: lack of confidence, lack of skills, lack of positive attitude, fear of entering an unknown territory, scared of losing, not upto the challenge, procrastination ... i can go on with this list. Motivating people has become a huge business in world today. Many companies are coaching people to cope up with challenges faced in professional and personal life.
The competition is fierce in corporate world, and the one's who are ahead in reinventing themselves are finding more opportunities than their colleagues. This leads to demotivation among people who are left behind. Stress and depression are random and like a virus effecting many.
Surprisingly, people need motivation for their fitness too! Not realising taking care of their body should be their first priority as it's the only place they have to live.
My question, were we always this lazy in our life?
Lazy not to learn new skills, increase our knowledge, discipline ourselves, play some sports and be fit?
Focus and discipline two key ingredients for our motivation, seem to be missing from our daily life. Can a motivation coach bring these changes with a one day or 2 day workshop? I remember in management lesson 21/90 rule. 21 days to build a habit and 90 days to convert that into a lifestyle. This needs focus and discipline and if that is missing then how will an individual convert this habit into a lifestyle. Are companies willing to spend 21 days of motivation coaching for their employees?
There are so many motivation quotes, that often i am lost in their meaning.
My all time favourite quote and my mantra has been " The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday".
Simple questions which can be checklist ; What do i want in life? What drives me? Am i constantly improving myself? Am i willing to take the next challenge? Am i passionate about my work? What is my next goal? What new skills i require? Am i happy with my fitness level?
Dreams and success go hand in hand. Every person dreams of creating or working on something. When your dream gets fulfilled, one cannot retire. You go find and pursue a new dream. This is the circle of life which keeps us young and creative.
Sometimes its hard to find Motivation. Sometimes Motivation will find you.

IQ + EQ = Common Sense?

Emotional intelligence is the X factor for success. (unknown quote)

Intelligence is not found in books, neither is it something which can be inherited. We all have our quirks and the most transferable of this is the superiority complex which many nurture.
Gone are the days where organisations were run by rule books and hierarchy. In todays world accepting our limits and giving respect to our co-workers is how successful organisations are flourishing.
Success a 7 letter word has many connotations in today's scenario . This dwells when people are happy , involved, respected, engaged, satisfied, process driven and highly paid. Many companies are now hiring mid level mangers and executives not as per the skill set but the attitude to learn and evolve as a manager/ leader in the organisation. IQ its an added advantage.
When did emotions come in play in the logical, cut throat and ruthless capital world.
I love this line in Freakonomics " Emotion is the enemy of rational argument".
Biased decisions don't go a long way at work, neither do biased promotions or hires work. So if these decisions were made by emotion driven managers, how well do they cope with Emotional Intelligence?
I was asked once if common sense and intelligence were partners in crime. Well to answer this question one needs to understand what does common sense and intelligence have in common. Ideally when a human is above average in understanding is known as being intelligent and when the same human uses his/ her intelligence for the better good of society by being an example of social and civic values probably should be termed common sense. I am not sure of this definition but to most common sense does not need high IQ.
But these days my favourite trending quote is "Common sense has nothing to do with intelligence."
There are lots of intelligent people out there with no common sense at all". We are badgering people with the hindsight of no common sense. Yet i cannot understand the definition of common sense more than the next person.
